Established in 2014 as part of the Incheon Global Campus, Mason Korea aims to become the best global education hub in Northeast Asia. The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority invited George Mason University to come to Songdo and participate in an innovative initiative to educate the next generation of global leaders.

Mason Korea offers U.S. degrees in several undergraduate disciplines including a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Computer Game Design. Students spend three years at Mason Korea and one year in the U.S. at Mason in Fairfax, Virginia. When students graduate, they receive the same degree as all students from George Mason University.

With more than 600 students at Mason Korea, representing over 20 countries, students are exposed to diverse cultures and learn to become global leaders in their chosen field. With a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio, students receive undivided attention from Mason’s distinguished faculty who are renowned global leaders and experts, including former executives.

Mason Korea is important because we no longer live in a one-country world,” Washington said. “If we’re going to be successful in all of the endeavors that we need to be successful in tackling the big challenges that we face, we’re going to have to do them together—because what is done in one part of the world actually affects another part of the world.

Gregory Washington, George Mason University President
